Portland's Union Station ...
Portland's Union Station opened for service in February 1896, as the local hub for the Union Pacific Railroad. The station once had on display the Oregon Pony, the first steam engine in the Pacific Northwest. The Oregon Pony hauled passengers and freight at the portage at Cascade Locks on the Columbia River.
