McNary Wildlife Nature Area ...
Directly across from Sillusi Butte, on the Oregon side of the Columbia River is a 318-acre day-use recreation area and boat ramp, the McNary Wildlife Nature Area. This site is located at approximately Columbia River Mile (RM) 291, and lies 1.5 miles east of Umatilla, Oregon, at the head of Lake Umatilla, the reservoir behind the John Day Dam. Immediately upstream of the Nature Area is the McNary Dam and further upstream is McNary Beach.
