Long Meadow ...
"Long Meadow" is the local name given to a 2-mile-long narrow meadow bordering Lake River on the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Carty Lake is on the south end of the meadow and nearby is Wapato Portage, the 1806 campsite of Lewis and Clark. The historic Cathlapotle Village and a quarry and associated rock haul road lie at the north end. Trees split the meadow in two.

"Long Meadow" Rock Haul Road ...
All that remains visible of the "Long Meadows" Rock Haul Road is a slight rise in the landscape, approximately 12 feet wide, which drops off again on the other side. The original road ran southwest from the quarry to Lake River. Today a clump of trees splits the road remnants in to two small sections.
