Buckmire Slough ...
Buckmire Slough is a three-mile-long slough of the Vancouver Lake Lowlands and follows on the west side of Vancouver Lake and the east side of Shillapoo Lake. The slough enters Lake River approximately one mile up from its confluence with the Columbia River.

Early Buckmire Slough ...
The 1897 U.S. Geological Survey's "Portland Quadrangle" topographic map shows "Buckmire Slough" located between Shillapoo Lake and Vancouver Lake.

The 1913 Washington Geological Survey's "Bulletin No.17" describes Buckmire Slough as "an old channel on the flood-plain between Vancouver Lake and Columbia River, near Vancouver, Clarke County."
